Community

HSC is located on a several hundred acre site in rural western Saginaw County near Hemlock, Michigan. The surrounding area includes the Tri-City communities of Saginaw, Midland and Bay City. These and other communities in the area constitute a key class of HSC stakeholders. HSC takes pride in its community and promotes interaction and involvement with the community:

	Responsible Care HSC strongly supports this initiative of the American Chemistry Council. The program is a public commitment to continually improve health, safety and environmental performance, to hear and respond to public concerns, to assist each other to achieve optimum performance and to report progress in these fronts to the public.
	Community Advisory Panel This panel of local citizens exists and meets to foster communication about any Responsible Care issues, as well as, any other issues or opportunities relating to HSC and its community.
	Neighborhood Gathering and Newsletter Periodically all immediate neighbors are invited to HSC to share information and any concerns. A newsletter is issued to this group several times per year.
	United Way HSC takes an active role in supporting United Way and in facilitating employee support of United Way.
	Education Involvement HSC has been involved with local schools for many years in a nationally acclaimed business/school partnership. This partnership continues to be a model partnership in Michigan.
	Employees and Community HSC employees live in the surrounding communities and serve in many ways to continually improve them.
