Hemlock Semiconductor Group and HIMS Team Up to Build House
More than 80 employees from Hemlock Semiconductor Group and Dow Corning
Healthcare Industry Manufacturing Site (HIMS) recently teamed up with Habitat
for Humanity (HFH) to build a three-bedroom house in Saginaw. The house,
partially funded by Dow Corning, was built in three weeks.
"I'd like to congratulate the volunteers who worked on the home,"
said Billy Huss, HIMS site manager. "They did a great job and
Dow Corning is proud of them and proud to be a part of this project to
provide a home for a Saginaw County family."
"It was neat to see the two sites working together to make this project
such a success," said Greg Skufca, Hemlock Semiconductor site manager.
"Hemlock Semiconductor and Dow Corning would like to thank Habitat for
Humanity for the wonderful service they provide."
The crews used an Hemlock Semiconductor boom truck to set the trusses and an
Hemlock Semiconductor skidsteer to level the ground for the sod. Employees
donated and planted four spruce trees and made quilts for the family. This is
the second HFH house built by Hemlock Semiconductor and the first for HIMS.
"This house is well-constructed and ahead of schedule," said Paul
Warriner, executive director of Saginaw HFH. "Hemlock Semiconductor and
Dow Corning volunteers exhibited a great deal of care and worked safely.
We are grateful for the continued support of Hemlock Semiconductor and hopeful
this will lead to a long-term partnership with Dow Corning and its
employees."
The Arnold Center, a Midland-based non-profit organization, provided food
and beverages to the volunteers throughout construction.
