Hemlock Semiconductor Group Presents Scholarships to Saginaw County
Students
Dow Corning's Healthcare Industries Materials Site (HIMS) and Hemlock
Semiconductor Group recently presented $1,000 scholarships to 15 Saginaw County
high school students. This was the second year for the scholarship program,
which HIMS and Hemlock Semiconductor began to encourage educational pursuits in
mathematics, science, and skilled trades. Both the HIMS and Hemlock
Semiconductor sites are located in Saginaw County.
Scholarship recipients, representing all but one Saginaw County high school,
were selected by an employee team from HIMS and Hemlock Semiconductor.
To recognize the recipients, HIMS and Hemlock Semiconductor hosted a
scholarship presentation event at Dow Diamond stadium, Midland. Scholarship
recipients and their parents were invited to enjoy a reception and dinner,
complete with a night of baseball.
"The future of our company depends on the education of young people in
our society, and this program is a great opportunity for Dow Corning to
support science education in Saginaw County," said Kim Houston-Philpot,
Dow Corning Diversity and HR compliance officer, and HIMS human resources
manager.
