Students are encouraged to explore their futures.

Inspiring and encouraging young people to explore their futures extends to our employees’ families.

Preparing students for the future

Recognizing that current students are our future employees, managers, leaders, and customers, Hemlock Semiconductor Group supports a number of initiatives and programs to help prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s challenges.

Partnership – Hemlock Semiconductor partnered with the Hemlock Public Schools in 1984, developing the “Hemlock Partnership for Education.” This active partnership continues to be a model in the state of Michigan.

Academic scholarships – Last year, Hemlock Semiconductor and neighboring Dow Corning Healthcare Industries Manufacturing Site jointly provided scholarships for math, science, and skilled trades students in Saginaw County, Michigan.

Technology grants – Helping to overcome the challenge of schools staying current with technological advances, Hemlock Semiconductor provided technology grants to Hemlock, Swan Valley, and Merrill, Michigan community schools.

Community education – Hemlock Semiconductor personnel provide local community groups and universities with a range of business presentations. A recent Business Management Series presentation featured “Solar Energy: The Next Mega Industry,” highlighting the enormous potential business growth in the solar industry.

Hemlock freshman career tour – Each year, freshman students (9th graders) from Hemlock High School are invited on-site for a full day of tours and career information. The students learn appropriate education paths to attain specific jobs, such as operators, administrators, engineers, and development scientists.
