Contest

Wednesday, November 2, 2011. More than a dozen Saginaw County middle school
students received awards for their artwork which was themed around “People
Helping People.”
“Our commitment to the community and safety converged this year to create a
2012 community calendar that features ways people reach out in the community
while also highlighting important safety information,” said David Rengering,
Hemlock Site Manager. “We are extremely pleased at the school participation and
truly look forward to mailing this fun yet functional calendar to our neighbors
in Richland, Thomas and Tittabawassee Townships in December. Everyone should
feel proud of the role they played in making this happen.”
Company leaders awarded Swan Valley Middle School with a $1,000 check for
submitting the Best of Show pictures across five schools in three school
districts. The check will be used for supporting a school-related community
project such as such as building outdoor reading benches, planting trees,
etc.
In addition, the following children each received gift cards to Barnes and
Noble for their winning entries: Alex Finzel, Suzveen Mazouri, Lindsey Mead,
Haley Samson and Jarrett Thomas of Swan Valley Middle School; Nick Berg,
Braliegh Hayes, Rylee Spitz and Heather Toner of Freeland Middle School;
Daisy-Jayne Burlingame and Hunter Riedlinger of Hemlock Middle School; Nora
Fettinger and Morgan Strzynski of St. Peter Lutheran; Caitlynn McGill, Shelby
McPhail and McKenzi Seegmiller of St. John’s Lutheran.
Principals, teachers, schoolchildren, family members and community leaders
attended the ceremony, which was held at Hemlock Semiconductor’s corporate
