Hemlock Semiconductor Awards Scholarships to Saginaw County Students
Sixteen Saginaw County high school seniors were acknowledged at
the Mathematics, Science, and Skilled Trades Scholarship Reception on April 19
in the Hemlock Semiconductor cafeteria. The scholarship was sponsored by
Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation and the Dow Corning Healthcare
Industries Materials Site. Students from eligible Saginaw County high
schools were chosen to receive the scholarship. Each student received $1,000
for their demonstrated interest and excellence in mathematics, science and
skilled trades. Successful applicants also exhibited a desire to pursue a
career path in one of these areas.
Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation and the Dow Corning
Healthcare Industries Materials Site strive to support organizations and
institutions in Saginaw County that improve the community’s quality of life,
with a special emphasis on those that positively impact education and the
environment.
Both companies believe that quality education is critical to
the future well-being of the community, as well as Dow Corning.
"We work to focus on supporting educational activities that
encourage the understanding of mathematics, science, and skilled trades, as
these core areas are what our companies were built upon," said David
Rengering, Hemlock Site Manager. "Providing opportunities like these for
students will only serve to improve our future."
