Get on the bus! HSC Partners with Saginaw STARS
HSC is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Saginaw Transit Authority and Regional Services (STARS) to offer a dedicated public transportation route from Saginaw to the Hemlock HSC site – the Silicon Express.
Cost
The STARS Silicon Express is fully subsidized by HSC for eligible employees, meaning employees have the opportunity to utilize convenient transportation at no cost to them.
Whether you’re looking to reduce commuting expenses, eliminate the stress of driving, or simply explore a different way to travel to and from work, the STARS Silicon Express bus route may be a great option for you.
How to sign up

- Complete the STARS Silicon Express Authorization and Acknowledgement Form.
- Submit the completed form to the HR Benefits team by email to G1HSC-Benefits@hscpoly.com or drop off to the T4 HR trailer.
- Once processed, you’ll receive information regarding your STARS Silicon Express rider card.

What time should I arrive at Silicon Express stop?
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Buses operate on a schedule and may depart promptly at the designated time
What are the Silicon Express arrival and departure times from HSC?
Where will I get dropped off at HSC?
Employees will be dropped off and picked up at the S-430 entrance turnstiles located off Orr Road.
Does Silicon Express operate on weekends?
Yes. Silicon Express service is available on weekends based on the published route and schedule
Does Silicon Express operate on holidays?
Yes, the Silicon Express operates on all of the HSC holidays.
What happens if the Silicon Express is delayed, cancelled, or I can’t make it to HSC?
Employees remain responsible for following all attendance and notification requirements. If a delay, cancellation, or other transportation issue affects your ability to report to work on time, you must follow your normal call-in procedures
Will I be paid for work time missed due to a bus delay or cancellation?
No. Employees are not paid for time missed as a result of bus delays, cancellations, or other transportation disruptions. Employees must follow normal call-in procedures and may use available paid time off in accordance with company policy, if applicable.
How do I sign up?
Complete the STARS Silicon Express Authorization and Acknowledgement form and return it to the Benefits Team at G1HSC-Benefits@hscpoly.com or deliver it to the T4 HR trailer. Please also review the STARS Silicon Express FAQs sheet. Once your form is received and processed, you will be issued a rider card.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to employees. The STARS Silicon Express program is fully subsidized by HSC, providing eligible employees with transportation at no charge.
What happens if I have an emergency and must leave work before the bus departs?
If an unexpected situation requires you to leave work before your scheduled STARS bus departure, you will be responsible for arranging your own transportation. For your convenience, the following local taxi services are available:

What if I forget my rider card?
Employees are expected to bring their rider card each time they use the STARS bus service, as the card helps verify ridership and supports program reporting. If you forget your card, you may still board the bus by providing the driver with your name and Employee ID for verification. Repeated failure to present a rider card may result in additional review or follow-up.
Can I share my card?
No. Rider cards are issued to individual employees and are for the assigned cardholder’s use only. Cards are non-transferable and may not be shared with or used by anyone else.
What happens if I lose my card?
Contact HR Benefits Team at G1HSC-Benefits@hscpoly.com by email or visit the T4 HR Trailer for a replacement.
What can I bring on the bus?
Riders may bring one personal bag or item aboard the bus, provided it is clean, secure, and not leaking. The item must be no larger than a standard large garbage bag and must not obstruct aisles, exits, or seating areas.
Can I eat or drink on the Silicon Express?
No. To help maintain a clean and comfortable environment for all riders, eating and drinking are not permitted on the bus.
Is there a bathroom on the Silicon Express?
No. Restroom facilities are not available on the bus. Please plan accordingly before boarding.
Can I charge my phone on Silicon Express?
No. Phone charging is not available on the bus. Please ensure your phone is adequately charged before boarding
What if I lose something on Silicon Express? Who do I contact?
If you believe you left an item on the bus, please contact STARS Customer Service at (989) 907-4000, Option 3, between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Outside of those hours, select Option 1 to reach a Hemlock Semiconductor Operations LLC – Internal/Confidential Fixed Route Supervisor for assistance. We recommend reporting lost items as soon as possible to improve the likelihood of recovery.
What happens if my vehicle is damaged or stolen while parked at a STARS lot?
Employees park at STARS locations at their own risk. Neither STARS nor Hemlock Semiconductor is responsible for loss, theft, or damage to vehicles or personal property. In the event of an incident, please follow local law enforcement reporting procedures and contact your auto insurance carrier as appropriate.
