Hemlock Semiconductor:Creating polysilicon, advancing technology.

Our vision

At Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC), we transform people’s lives by connecting and energizing our world through silicon technology. HSC is a chemical processing facility located in Hemlock, Michigan that plays an essential role in the semiconductor and solar industries, with the vision of becoming the preferred supplier of silicon-enabled technologies to the low-carbon, digital world.

Our values are not just words on paper; they are the foundation of the culture we want to foster and contribute to—a culture that is customer-focused, continuously improving, and built to have a lasting impact on our world.

What we do

Since 1961, HSC has been a leading global provider of hyper-pure polysilicon, and is the only polysilicon manufacturer headquartered in the United States. Our polysilicon is used to make computer chips – the “brains” behind the electronic devices we rely on to make our lives easier, safer and more enjoyable. HSC is just one of six major manufacturers in the world that makes polysilicon used to create semiconductor wafers. In fact, nearly all electronic devices in the world contain HSC polysilicon.

We’re also moving the world toward a greener future by supplying the rapidly growing solar power industry. The low embodied greenhouse gas emissions in our polysilicon materials facilitates the production of ultra low-carbon solar panels. These panels allow solar project developers and owners to lower the embodied carbon of their projects by up to 50 percent.

What we stand for

At HSC, we’re passionate about silicon-based technology and its unique potential to connect and energize the world we share. Dedicated to sustainability and environmental responsibility, we have honed our manufacturing process to deliver products with an ultra low-carbon footprint. We also put a strong emphasis on public safety and take pride in being an involved and active community leader in the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan.

To achieve our goals, we draw on the talents of more than 1,350 employees and contractors who embody our values of teamwork, excellence, responsibility, and customer focus. Together, with our dedicated team and unwavering commitment to innovation, HSC is poised to lead the way in shaping a brighter and more connected future for all.
